Plain Jane Knits Up A Storm

A few musings about my needlecraft hobbies - knitting, crocheting, quilting, & cross-stitch along with my other love, genealogy. While growing up, I used to HATE the term "Plain Jane", but when it comes to knitting & crocheting, I've realized that I really *am* a Plain Jane in that I don't use fancy yarns.

More Photos!

Here's a few things that weren't quite finished for the last "photo shoot".. The first two sweaters are a slightly smaller version of the earlier Knit For Kids sweaters - probably about right size for a 1 year - 18 months old. I decreased the number of stitches for the size 2 by about 10%. These two are going into the case at the Sr. Center to sell - postage for the tote full of full sized sweaters is going to be UP there.

A couple more items for the case - the first is a 55" scarf in a super soft yarn - turquoise with little flecks of color. I also knit one from a skein of the same yarn in dark magenta.

And finally, a cabled hat in a bulky grey heather yarn - it looks better on than it does laying on the floor. I started with 48 stitches on a size 13 circular & a 2x2 rib that morphed into 6 stitch cables with p2 between them. After three cable twists, I decreased to a 4 stitch cable, 1 twist, decreased to a 2 stitch cable with 1 purl stitch between before finishing off. No pattern, just winging it as I went but I like the way that a k2tog on the right side of the cable & slip 1 to knit, 1 to purl, k together blended neatly into the cable. I had enough in the skein to make a second hat in quaker stitch but forgot to photograph it this morning.
